Claims involving Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates have resurfaced following the release of new files connected to the US Justice Department’s investigation into disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
According to the newly released documents, Epstein alleged that Gates contracted a sexually transmitted disease after engaging in sexual encounters with women he described as “Russian girls.” Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges, also claimed that Gates later sought antibiotics that could be discreetly given to his then-wife, Melinda French Gates.
The US Justice Department on Friday, January 30, released more than three million pages of documents related to the Epstein investigation, along with over 2,000 videos and approximately 180,000 images. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the materials were published as part of an effort to increase transparency, adding that earlier delays were due to the need to protect the identities of more than 1,000 alleged victims.
Blanche described the latest release as the conclusion of an extensive review process, noting that the files include materials that were withheld from an initial document dump in December. Among the documents are photographs showing Epstein in the company of Bill Gates.
Also included are draft emails believed to have been written by Epstein that focus heavily on Gates. In one message to British politician Peter Mandelson, Epstein claimed he had “monstrous fun” with Gates during a visit to Seattle.
Several of the draft emails appear to be written by Epstein as if on behalf of Gates’ longtime science adviser, Boris Nikolic. In those drafts, Epstein made a series of accusations, including claims that Nikolic had been asked to assist Gates in obtaining drugs to “deal with consequences” of alleged sexual encounters, as well as to help conceal an alleged STD.
One draft email states that the writer had been pressured into activities he described as “morally inappropriate” and “ethically unsound,” ranging from facilitating affairs to helping procure medication. The message also references requests for drugs allegedly linked to Gates’ private life.
In another draft email addressed directly to Gates, Epstein accused the billionaire of attempting to orchestrate a cover-up to protect his public image. The message alleges that Gates requested antibiotics so they could be given to Melinda without her knowledge and urged the deletion of emails referencing the alleged STD.
The draft further warns that a public divorce could have serious financial consequences, claiming it might jeopardize philanthropic pledge programmes worth billions of dollars if donors withdrew their commitments.
The document release also revisits earlier reports that Epstein allegedly threatened to expose Gates’ purported relationship with Russian bridge player Mila Antonova in 2017. Previous reporting suggested the alleged threat came after Gates declined to participate in a charitable fund Epstein was promoting with JPMorgan Chase.
Gates and Melinda French Gates were married from 1994 until their divorce in 2021. Melinda has previously stated that Gates’ extramarital affairs and his association with Epstein contributed to the end of their marriage, though she has not publicly shared specific details.
Beyond Gates, the newly released files reference other high-profile figures. They include claims that Epstein offered Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, dinner with a 26-year-old Russian woman, as well as an allegation that Epstein gave £10,000 to the husband of Lord Mandelson for an osteopathy course.
Years after his death, Epstein’s connections — and the allegations surrounding them — continue to cast a long shadow over some of the world’s most powerful figures.
