Actor Kunle Remi has shared his thoughts on the recent visit of popular American streamer, Ishowspeed, to Nigeria, describing the country as the worst destination on the streamer’s African tour based on his personal observation.
Ishowspeed, who has been touring several African countries, was in Lagos, Nigeria last week before moving on to other parts of the continent. His visit generated massive attention on social media, with clips from his livestreams sparking conversations about culture, tourism, and the image of African cities presented to a global audience.
Reacting to the viral moments from the trip, Kunle Remi stated that Ishowspeed’s experience in Nigeria exposed Lagos State in an unflattering way. According to the actor, the visit highlighted a lack of meaningful cultural and developmental showcases that could positively represent the city.
Kunle lamented that Lagos appeared to offer little beyond what he described as “fake drinks, clubs and beggy beggy skills,” suggesting that the content from the visit failed to reflect the state’s rich culture, creativity, and economic potential.
He further implied that Nigeria missed an opportunity to properly project its heritage, innovation, and tourism appeal to millions of global viewers who followed Ishowspeed’s journey online. The actor’s comments have since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users agreeing with his assessment, while others argued that the streamer’s itinerary did not capture the full essence of Lagos or Nigeria as a whole.
The debate continues as many Nigerians call for better planning, improved tourism structure, and intentional storytelling when international influencers visit the country, in order to present a more balanced and authentic image to the world.
