Residents of the Odo-Kekere Community in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State were thrown into panic on Thursday evening following the partial collapse of a structure in a public school in the area.
According to residents, a section of the school building gave way on Thursday afternoon, January 15. First responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) promptly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to ensure public safety.
The remote cause of the incident and the extent of the damage are currently under investigation. However, preliminary reports confirmed that no students were in the classrooms at the time of the collapse.
