Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater are still very much together, despite months of speculation suggesting otherwise.
Over the weekend, the Broadway actor quietly showed his support for Ariana as she hosted Saturday Night Live. Although the couple did not pose for photos together in public, Slater was spotted in Ariana’s backstage green room, as evidenced by images shared by her longtime friend and actress Elizabeth Gillies. One photo captured Slater relaxing on a couch alongside Gillies and fellow performer Aaron Simon Gross, clearly indicating his presence behind the scenes, as reported by the Daily Mail.
This appearance comes just days after Ariana herself squashed breakup rumors by sharing a video of Slater discussing his character’s journey in Wicked: For Good. The couple also eased speculation last November when they attended the New York City premiere of the musical film together.
Elizabeth Gillies, who starred alongside Ariana in Victorious, took to social media to praise the singer’s performance on SNL. “Nobody does it like you,” she wrote, calling the episode “brilliant” and celebrating its highlights, including Bowen Yang’s exit and surprise appearances.
Earlier this year, fans were led to believe the couple had split after they were notably absent from each other’s lives for months. Reports even suggested that their relationship had been “on and off” throughout the year.
Ariana and Ethan’s romance first became public in 2023, shortly after Ariana’s split from her ex-husband Dalton Gomez, while Slater was still married to Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a son.
