A heated debate erupted on social media after a woman reacted to a post advising men to have at least one daughter for old age, warning that sons might abandon their fathers in hospitals while rushing off to help friends “that have been sh*t.”

The comment that truly set Nigerians on fire, however, was her sarcastic follow-up, suggesting that men should marry multiple wives if their first wife gives birth to six daughters — because, in her words, “daughters are not real children; real men birth sons.”

The remark sparked an immediate backlash.

One woman quickly stepped in to correct the narrative, reminding users that it is the man’s chromosome that determines a baby’s sex — not the woman’s. She also emphasized that a child’s gender has no bearing on how much love or care they give their parents in old age.

Meanwhile, another user hinted that Nigerians “are not ready for this discussion,” while many others simply laughed at the unfolding argument.
