Fulham head coach Marco Silva has challenged Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze to fight for a regular starting spot after the player delivered a match-winning assist last weekend.
Chukwueze joined the West London club on a season-long loan this summer and has so far been deployed mainly as an impact substitute, making five appearances off the bench for the Whites.
The 26-year-old produced a “wonderful assist” for Raúl Jiménez’s late winner in Fulham’s crucial 1–0 victory over Sunderland, marking his second Premier League assist for the Cottagers.
Following his impressive cameo, Chukwueze was voted Fulham’s Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match, beating teammates Raúl Jiménez and Harry Wilson to the award.
Silva praised the winger for his growing influence but stressed the next step in his development:
“He (Chukwueze) had a huge impact. It was a great assist from him, and we’re pleased for him. Now we need him to start games and keep the intensity throughout the 90 minutes,” Silva told Fulham’s official website.
