British media personality Piers Morgan has stirred conversation across social media after unexpectedly tweeting in Igbo while responding to American rapper Nicki Minaj over her comments on the recent killings of Christians in Nigeria.
In a post that quickly went viral, Morgan wrote:
“Ọ dị m ezigbo mkpa! Anyị nwere ike ime ajụjụ ọnụ?”
(Translation: “It is very important to me! Can we do an interview?”)
The message came as a quote response to a tweet by Minaj, who had referenced Morgan while commenting on U.S. involvement and rising concerns about violence targeting Christian communities in Nigeria.
Minaj had tweeted:
“And just like that, Piers has been given clearance to fly through Barb Airspace. The power of Nigeria. 🇳🇬 Naija Barbz, keep an eye on him…”
Morgan’s sudden use of Igbo — one of Nigeria’s major languages — immediately triggered mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing surprise, amusement, and curiosity.
His tweet comes at a time of growing international attention on reports of attacks against Christian populations in parts of Nigeria, an issue increasingly highlighted by global public figures and human rights advocates.
