Anambra’s political scene took a dramatic twist after Uche Ekwunife, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was seen reportedly ignoring Governor Chukwuma Soludo at a recent public event — a move that appears to deepen the ongoing rift between the two politicians ahead of the November governorship election.
The tension between Soludo and Ekwunife has been brewing for weeks, following the governor’s public remarks questioning the authenticity of Ekwunife’s academic qualifications, particularly her PhD.
In response, Ekwunife launched a scathing counterattack, accusing Governor Soludo of poor leadership and personal misconduct. She criticized his handling of governance and security issues in Anambra State and went further to make personal allegations concerning his hygiene.
The controversy took an even more sensational turn when Ekwunife alleged that Soludo’s wife, Nonye Soludo, once had an affair with the late former governor, Chinwoke Mbadinuju, and even cast doubt on the paternity of some of her children.
Reacting swiftly, Mrs. Soludo issued a 72-hour ultimatum demanding that Ekwunife retract her statements and issue a public apology or face legal action. She also challenged Ekwunife to take an oath of chastity and suggested a DNA test for her children to settle the matter once and for all.
Ekwunife, however, brushed off the threats and challenges, insisting that Mrs. Soludo owed explanations to her husband — not to her.
