Andrew Ogbuja, a lecturer at the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, and his son, Victor, were accused of repeatedly molesting Ochanya from the age of eight. The prolonged abuse reportedly led to her developing Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF), which ultimately resulted in her death.
In recent days, several Nigerians have taken to social media to renew calls for justice for the late Ochanya.
In a statement posted on her social media page on Thursday morning, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan said she had been informed that the suspects were discharged and acquitted. She urged the family of the deceased to submit a formal petition to her office so she could follow up on the case and ensure justice is served.
