The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has summoned its officers captured in a viral video assaulting members of the public.
The footage, which surfaced on social media on Tuesday, October 21, shows officers forcefully pushing a man into their patrol van while slapping and manhandling another before forcing him into the same vehicle. The video quickly sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians demanding disciplinary action against the officers involved.
In a statement posted on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the officers have been identified and summoned for questioning.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, strongly condemns such acts of unprofessionalism. All officers depicted in the video have been identified and summoned to the Command Headquarters for questioning. The complainant(s) are also invited to the Command HQ to give their statement to aid the investigation process.
