The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a self-acclaimed prophet, Ajayi Oluwatoyin, for allegedly raping a 20-year-old 100-level student of Ekiti State University (EKSU).
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, disclosed this during a press briefing in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend. According to him, the arrest is part of a broader effort by the command to crack down on criminal activities across the state.
“At Iworoko-Ekiti, a self-acclaimed prophet, Ajayi Oluwatoyin, was arrested for raping a 20-year-old 100-level student of Ekiti State University,” CP Eribo stated.
In the same briefing, the Commissioner revealed the arrest of several other suspects linked to serious crimes including armed robbery, rape, and illegal possession of firearms.
Among them were Bolaji Kazeem and Isa Sikirulahi, who were caught in the Isato area of Ado-Ekiti while riding a TVS NEO motorcycle. They were found with a locally-made pistol, a live cartridge, and a battle axe. A follow-up search at their hideout in Omisanjana led to the recovery of a stolen motorcycle.
In a separate incident, Abolaji Rasheed, also known as B.J., from Owena in Osun State, was arrested while attempting to steal a motorcycle along Igbara Odo Road in Ogotun-Ekiti. His accomplices reportedly fled the scene and are still at large.
CP Eribo further disclosed that Mohammed Jamiu and Ahmed were apprehended for stealing a Toyota Cabster vehicle that had been parked at Tipper Garage, Ijigbo area of Ado-Ekiti.
Another disturbing case involved the arrest of Ajetomobi Ayomide in Aramoko-Ekiti, who allegedly defiled an eight-year-old girl multiple times and threatened to kill her if she spoke out.
The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order in Ekiti State, promising that all suspects would be thoroughly investigated and charged to court as appropriate.
