The Lagos State Government has re-arraigned Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, before the Lagos High Court in Ikeja on fresh charges related to the murder of two police officers.
On Monday, October 13, Evans appeared in court alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka. The pair was arraigned before Justice A. O. Ogala on a five-count charge sheet that includes murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
Both Evans and Emeka pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Evans, notorious as one of Nigeria’s most infamous kidnap kingpins, is already serving prison sentences from convictions in two separate kidnapping cases. However, he continues to face multiple ongoing trials involving serious charges, including abduction and murder.
These latest charges add a new dimension to the lengthy legal saga surrounding Evans whose high-profile arrests and convictions have highlighted Nigeria’s ongoing battle against violent crime and kidnapping-for-ransom gangs.
