Media personality and former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his recent remarks about former Anambra governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Wike, while speaking on Monday, September 1, had said Obi “lacks character” and should not return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arguing that such a move would “kill” the party. According to him, Obi once described the PDP as “rotten,” and seeking to return would only show inconsistency.
Reacting during an Arise TV program on Tuesday morning, Abati slammed Wike, insisting that the minister lacks the moral standing to question anyone’s character.
“Wike is saying PDP will be destroyed if Peter Obi comes back because Obi once condemned PDP as a rotten party. But Wike is not in a position to talk about character. If he wants to talk about character, he should first examine his own.
I don’t know why people struggle with basic intelligence and decorum. He goes on television to say Peter Obi doesn’t have character. But Peter Obi left PDP, moved to Labour Party, and now ADC. In fact, it is Wike himself who destroyed the PDP.
He talks about Peter Obi, Goodluck Jonathan, Nasir El-Rufai… What gives him the moral high ground to speak so recklessly and unintelligently?” Abati said.
