An 18-year-old man, Solomon Sunday, has been remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, over the alleged rape of a 2-year-old child.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bankole, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on August 24, 2025.
Bankole stated that the offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2021, and maintained that there was sufficient ground to order the remand of the defendant.
He further explained that the defendant was reasonably suspected to have committed the act and informed the court that the duplicate case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
In her ruling, Chief Magistrate Adefunke Anoma ordered that the defendant be remanded at a correctional centre and adjourned the matter until October 14 for mention.
