Police Rescue Abducted Staff Member of Ondo FMC

The Ondo State Police Command has successfully rescued Ayodeji Adebayo Akinsero, a staff member of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, who was abducted at his residence in Upenme community on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

According to a statement from the police spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the victim was found unharmed following a well-coordinated rescue operation involving officers from the Owo Area Command, Divisional Police Headquarters, and the Upeme Vigilante Group.

Acting on directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, the joint team launched an intensive manhunt, combing local forests and using intelligence from the community. During a gun duel with the kidnappers, the criminals fled, abandoning Akinsero.

The rescued victim was promptly taken to the Federal Medical Centre for medical checks and has since reunited with his family.

The police praised the bravery and teamwork of the officers and vigilante members involved, as well as the critical support from the local community, which played a key role in the successful operation.

DSP Ayanlade also acknowledged the leadership of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Ondo State Government for their continued support in the fight against crime.

Commissioner Lawal assured residents of Ondo State of the command’s ongoing commitment to eradicating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
