The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, Benue State, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in cult activities.
Rector of the institution, Dr. Tyover Ashinya, disclosed this on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Makurdi, stating that the polytechnic has zero tolerance for social vices.
“Cultism is gradually becoming a culture in most tertiary institutions in Nigeria today. Just yesterday (Monday), we expelled two students from the school over cult-related activities,” he said.
Ashinya explained that the incident occurred on campus shortly after an examination.
“On that day, I heard loud noises outside my office and rushed out to find two students assaulting another student. Upon investigation, we discovered they were members of a cult group and immediately expelled them,” he added.
The rector emphasized that as a new institution, the Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, would not condone any form of cultism or misconduct.
