The 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Ikeja has handed over Animashaun Khalid, a 36-year-old man, to the Lagos State Police Command after he was arrested for impersonating an Army Major.

Khalid was apprehended at Arena Market, Oshodi, carrying a forged Nigerian Army identity card with the rank of Major. Soldiers arrested him on the spot and immediately handed him over to the Lagos police, highlighting effective cooperation between the military and law enforcement agencies.

Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the handover to newsmen. He said the case has been assigned to Special Squad I for a thorough investigation aimed at uncovering the source of the forged ID, identifying any accomplices, and determining if Khalid used the fake identity to commit other crimes.

“Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be charged to court accordingly,” Hundeyin added.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the Nigerian Army for their swift action and seamless collaboration with the police. He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation among security agencies in combating crime across Lagos State.

CP Jimoh also called on the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities, assuring that joint efforts between security forces would continue to enhance safety in the region.
