The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction and sentencing of 15 Chinese nationals for offences related to cyberterrorism and internet fraud in Lagos.

According to a statement issued by the commission, the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 successfully prosecuted the suspects before two Federal High Court judges sitting in Ikoyi — Justice Ayokunle Faji and Justice Dehinde Dipeolu.

“The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentencing of 15 Chinese nationals for cyberterrorism and internet fraud before Justices Ayokunle Faji and Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos,” the statement read.

The convicted individuals were identified as Ling Yang, Xiao Hong Will, Wang Zheng Ming, Wang Jia Qi, Yang Sheng, Peng Sen Lin, Guo Xiao Fei, Chen An Shun, Zhao Ying Bin, Yu Zi (aka Wei Xue Huan), Zhang Yang, Wang Zhi Cheng, and Lu Yubo. Notably, the names Yang Sheng and Peng Sen Lin appear twice in the list, suggesting possible duplication or alias use, though the EFCC has not clarified this.

The EFCC noted that the suspects were arraigned on separate charges bordering on cyberterrorism and internet-related offences.

This latest conviction follows the sentencing of 14 other Chinese nationals for similar crimes just weeks earlier, underscoring the agency’s intensified crackdown on transnational cybercrime networks operating within Nigeria.
