Ahead of the 2027 general election, lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has claimed that no Southern presidential candidate stands a chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu — except former President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a post shared via his X handle, Adeyanju stated that the most strategic ticket from the opposition coalition would be a Goodluck Jonathan/Rabiu Kwankwaso pairing. Alternatively, he suggested that a younger Northern candidate running alongside Peter Obi could also pose a strong challenge.
Adeyanju argued that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may no longer appeal to younger voters and is therefore unlikely to galvanize the necessary support to win.
His statement has stirred debate on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the viability of different opposition ticket combinations for 2027.
