The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with a large-scale visa scam involving the fraudulent collection of ₦500 million.

The suspects—Blessing Wefsutu (27), Chineye Christian (36), Archibong Udeme Ifereke (23), and Maurine Peter (25)—were all staff members of an educational consultancy based in Ago Okota.

The case was initially reported at the Ago Okota Police Division before being transferred to the SCID for thorough investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects allegedly defrauded over 100 victims by falsely promising to secure Canadian and Australian work visas for them.

Further investigations indicate that the syndicate includes additional accomplices, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, urged the public to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of travel and recruitment agencies before engaging in visa-related transactions. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to bringing all involved to justice and protecting residents from fraud and related crimes.
