Peter Obi has explained why he was unable to attend the funeral of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which took place in Daura, Katsina State, on Monday, July 15.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV during his condolence visit to Daura on Tuesday, July 16, Obi cited travel challenges as the reason for his absence at the burial.
“It was difficult to come here yesterday because there was no flight. Even if there had been a flight, you couldn’t land at the Katsina airport—it was closed due to the high number of dignitaries arriving for the funeral,” Obi said.
He added that the mourning period is still ongoing: “It is believed that the mourning continues till tomorrow, so whoever comes today or tomorrow is still part of the mourning. We are all mourning him.”
