Veteran Nollywood actor Ugezu J. Ugezu has taken a swipe at the Senate President over the prolonged suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti, questioning both the legality and morality of her continued exclusion from the Senate.
In a statement shared online, Ugezu reminded the Senate President that Natasha, like him, was democratically elected by the people to serve in the National Assembly — and a court has since ruled her suspension unlawful.
“The same way she got elected to represent her people is the same way you got elected to represent yours. Now you suspended her,” Ugezu wrote.
He emphasized that a competent court had ordered Senator Akpoti’s reinstatement, ruling that no Senate leader has the constitutional authority to suspend an elected lawmaker indefinitely.
“And you are appealing the judgment? Senate President sir, can you shun frivolities and focus on your real-time parliamentary duties?” he added.
