A tragic incident unfolded on the evening of Friday, June 20, 2025, in Osisioma, Aba, Abia State, when a young man was killed and his sister, the bride-to-be, was abducted just hours before her wedding.
The victim, 27-year-old Chibueze Franklin Joseph, had traveled from Owerri to assist with his sister’s wedding preparations. According to reports, he was escorting her to the church when their vehicle was ambushed by gunmen around 8:00 p.m.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident on Sunday. Eyewitnesses said the assailants intercepted the car, shot Chibueze in the neck, and pushed him out of the vehicle before fleeing with the bride, Uzoamaka Joseph Aliu, in a black Toyota Sequoia SUV. Authorities have yet to confirm the SUV’s license plate.
Chibueze was later discovered lying in a pool of blood and, despite efforts to save him, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to Alanwendu Mortuary in Osisioma for autopsy and preservation.
Family sources described Chibueze as deeply involved in his sister’s wedding plans, saying he had been enthusiastic and committed to ensuring everything went smoothly.
In the wake of the attack, a coordinated search and rescue operation is underway, involving police, local vigilante groups, and concerned community members, all working to locate Uzoamaka and bring her home safely.
