Pastor Paul Adefarasin has responded to a viral video showing him holding an object while confronting a content creator.

On Friday, June 6, the head pastor of House on the Rock became a trending topic after a video surfaced online. The clip showed him driving when a content creator began filming his car. As the pastor pulled up to the individual, he rolled down his window and appeared to caution the person, holding an object in his hand that many viewers speculated was a handgun. The content creator quickly apologized, and Pastor Adefarasin drove off.

The video sparked outrage among Nigerians, with many questioning why a pastor would allegedly threaten an unarmed citizen with a firearm.

Pastor Adefarasin addressed the incident during a church service on Sunday, June 8. He said:

“This is not merely an attack on a local church or a pastor. It is an organized strategy of the one we war against. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high places, and a host of demonic forces.

“The root of this issue is the love of money. The individuals involved were likely driven by the desire for viral content and revenue. I probably wasn’t even the target — their target was more attention, more views, and more money.

“I was falsely accused of brandishing a firearm at an aggressive content creator who came within close personal range — about three-quarters of a meter — separated only by a glass window.

“I do not possess a firearm license, I do not carry a firearm, and I certainly did not point a weapon at anyone.”

The pastor’s statement seeks to clarify the situation and refute claims made about the nature of the object seen in the video.
