A man has admitted to killing his wife as she pushed their baby in a pram along a high street in Bradford.

Kulsuma Akter, 27, was fatally stabbed on Wigan Street in April 2024 while walking with her infant, who was unharmed in the incident.

Her husband, Habibur Masum, a YouTuber, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies the charge of murder. He is due to stand trial on Monday, June 9. Masum also faces two counts of assault by beating and one charge of stalking.

Kulsuma was taken to hospital following the attack but later died from her injuries. Masum was arrested around 170 miles away in Aylesbury shortly after the incident.

Monwara Begum, Kulsuma’s mother, said she has been left “heartbroken” by the death of her youngest daughter.

“I am in shock,” she said. “She was my youngest daughter and I adored her greatly. When she moved to the United Kingdom, I was alone, but Kulsuma would call me every day by video. The only day I didn’t hear from her was the day she was attacked.”

Bradford Crown Court heard that the charges of assault and threats to kill relate to incidents in November 2023.

It is alleged that Masum tracked Kulsuma’s movements, located her at a safe house, and sent her menacing messages, including threats to kill, along with photos and videos of the area where she was staying. He is also accused of loitering near her temporary residence.

The stalking charge alleges that his actions caused her “alarm or distress” and led her to “fear that violence would be used against her.”
