The 37-year-old star revealed the diagnosis on Instagram, sharing that she plans to have surgery following her performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball—a mini-festival at London’s Wembley Stadium—later this month.
“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” she said. “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early.’”
“It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I’m going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I’ll come back with massive tits and more music.”
Jessie, whose full name is Jessica Cornish, said she chose to announce her diagnosis publicly to help process the news and to show solidarity with others facing similar experiences.
“I just wanted to be open and share it,” she explained. “One, because, selfishly, I don’t talk about it enough. I’m not processing it fully because I’ve been working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me—receiving love, support, and hearing other people’s stories. I’m an open book.”
“It breaks my heart that so many people are going through similar or even worse struggles—that’s the part that kills me.”
She continued, “The timing has been mad but also beautiful, giving me incredible perspective during this time. But honestly, I need to process it and talk about it, and I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times, and I don’t want this to be any different.”
This heartbreaking news comes two years after the birth of her first child. Jessie J welcomed a son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in 2023, after experiencing a miscarriage in November 2021.
