Manchester City have reached an agreement with AC Milan to sign Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders for £46.3 million (€55 million).
The Netherlands international is set to join the Etihad Stadium on a five-year contract. According to Fabrizio Romano, personal terms were finalized earlier this week, and only formalities between the two clubs remain before the transfer is completed.
Reijnders enjoyed an impressive season with AC Milan, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists across 54 appearances in all competitions. Despite Milan finishing eighth in Serie A, Reijnders was named the league’s midfielder of the season.
Meanwhile, City are also in ongoing talks to bolster their squad further, targeting Wolves’ left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and Lyon’s attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.
Cherki, 21, valued at around £35 million, scored 12 goals in 44 appearances this season, including a brace against Manchester United in the Europa League. He also helped France’s U23 team secure a silver medal at last summer’s Olympic Games. Although Cherki has yet to feature for France’s senior national team, he recently received his first call-up and may debut in Thursday’s UEFA Nations League semi-final against Spain.
City aim to complete the signing of Ait-Nouri, rated at £40 million, before the Club World Cup to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s defense. The 23-year-old Wolves left-back has been a target for City scouts over the past year.
