Nigerians have been left stunned by the identity of one of the accomplices arrested alongside an Enugu native doctor accused of kidnapping and ritual killings.

On May 26, a 13-year-old girl was abducted by three men while walking to the farm with her father.

By May 27, the girl’s cries alerted locals to the compound of Obi Obieze, a well-known native doctor also referred to as Obu Onyeka, “Ezeani,” and “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show.” There, the teenager was found tied up, intended to be used for ritual purposes.

Authorities also uncovered the bodies of other victims buried in a soakaway pit, including that of a heavily pregnant woman (read here).

Enraged residents set fire to the house and several cars, while the native doctor fled the scene. He has since been apprehended while attempting to escape the country.

The police released a statement confirming the arrests, which reads in part:
“The operation also led to the arrest of three male suspects connected to the crime, namely: Uche Kingsley Agumba, aged 33; Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi, aged 36; and Ejike Odinwankpa, aged 38.”

Uche Kingsley’s alleged involvement has particularly shocked Nigerians, especially those from the South-Eastern region, who knew him as a deeply religious man who never missed church services.
