Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has ignited fresh concerns over on-set safety in the Nigerian film industry following a disturbing incident that left him hospitalized with internal bleeding.
In a now-viral social media post, Nnadiekwe recounted being unexpectedly kicked in the chest by fellow actor Zubby Michael during a film shoot—an action he claims was neither scripted nor directed.
“During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director. It’s caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!” he wrote.
According to Nnadiekwe, he was forced to seek medical attention independently, receiving no immediate support or first aid from the production team.
Shortly after his statement, his management released a formal update, confirming the actor had been rushed to the hospital for treatment of internal bleeding.
“We regret to inform you that actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick to the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael.”
Although Nnadiekwe did not explicitly name Michael in his initial remarks, footage from the scene has since circulated online, clearly showing the intense moment. This has led many viewers to identify Zubby Michael as the other actor involved.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion across social media, with fans and colleagues expressing shock and concern.
In his post, Nnadiekwe made a heartfelt plea to the film industry, urging producers and fellow actors to take safety more seriously—especially in an environment where many productions lack basic safety protocols, insurance, or medical support.
“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this—even if accidental—can have real consequences. What if something more serious had happened?”
As of now, Zubby Michael has not issued a public response regarding the incident.
