Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade is opening up about the difference between being admired for beauty and being truly seen — particularly when it comes to love and relationships.
In a heartfelt reflection on her journey, the screen star shared how physical attraction, while powerful, is not enough to sustain love or build a meaningful partnership.
“I used to be the center of attention — the most admired, the most talked about in my youthful days. Beauty opened many doors. I was loved, I was desired,” she revealed.
“But guess what? I’m still not married.”
According to Vanguard, Adunni emphasized that her single status isn’t due to a lack of worth, but rather a deeper understanding: beauty alone doesn’t keep a man.
“Some came for the face, not the soul. Some wanted the shine, not the substance,” she said.
“I learned the hard way that a woman must be more than just beautiful.”
She went on to encourage women to focus on cultivating their minds and values beyond outward appearance.
“Build your mind, know your worth, have values, be whole on your own. Marriage will come when the time is right — but don’t believe beauty is all you need.”
