A 50-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Ihuenuma, has been apprehended by the authorities of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly committing a s£xual assault against a 15-year-old girl in Benin City.
The individual in question, reportedly the official driver assigned to one of the Special Advisers to the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, was taken into custody by law enforcement following a tip-off from the victim’s father.
Allegations suggest that the suspect habitually sought opportunities to engage in inappropriate behavior with the teenager, who resides with her parents, whenever he visited the residence on official duties.
Sources indicate that the driver made unwanted advances towards the girl on multiple occasions, behaving in a lewd manner in an attempt to lure her, as reported by DailyTrust.
Following several incidents, the girl disclosed the matter to her mother, who subsequently informed her father.
The father then reported the situation to the police, resulting in the apprehension of the suspect.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, verified the arrest of the suspect and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted, with the individual facing legal charges.
He urged the public to promptly report cases of r@pe, indecent assault, and defilement to law enforcement for immediate intervention.
