In a rare show of emotion, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, broke down in tears while addressing the press on the recent discrepancies in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

During a press conference held at the board’s headquarters in Abuja, Prof. Oloyede publicly apologised to affected candidates and their families, acknowledging the stress and confusion caused by the errors in the released results. He admitted that although JAMB has consistently worked to improve its systems and integrity, this year’s technical glitches affected the performance records of some candidates.

“We are deeply sorry for the anxiety and inconvenience this has caused. As an organisation committed to transparency and fairness, we take full responsibility,” he said, visibly moved.

The board has since initiated a review process to identify and correct the affected results. Candidates are encouraged to regularly check the JAMB portal for updates or reach out to support channels for assistance.

Prof. Oloyede assured the public that JAMB is taking swift measures to prevent a recurrence and restore trust in its examination process.
