Sevilla FC has strongly condemned the behavior of certain fans after their players were forced to spend the night at the club’s training ground due to “extreme violence” following a 3-2 defeat to Celta Vigo.
The seven-time Europa League champions are having another challenging season, sitting 16th in La Liga—just four points clear of the relegation zone.
Social media footage showed fans setting off pyrotechnics outside the training ground and damaging the main gate. In response, the club stated it would “pursue the public naming of employees and the dissemination of private data on social media and in the media,” which they described as criminal offenses.
A club statement read: “Sevilla understands that the team’s current sporting situation, which is not what any Sevilla fan wants, may lead to protests. However, under no circumstances will aggression, threats, or vandalism be tolerated.”
The statement continued: “Sevilla calls on the security forces to act swiftly and diligently to identify the perpetrators of these despicable acts, carried out by a group of organized radicals who used extreme violence.”
