rsenal have finally agreed a deal to sign long-term target Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
The defensive midfielder has been on Arsenal’s radar for over a year, and the deal was effectively sealed during the winter transfer window. Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Zubimendi has verbally agreed to sign a long-term contract with the club, with Arsenal ready to activate the Spaniard’s £51 million release clause.
Zubimendi will become the first signing under new sporting director Andrea Berta, who joined the club from Atletico Madrid in March, following the dismissal of Edu and Jason Ayto’s brief interim tenure.
At 26, Zubimendi is regarded as one of the top midfield talents in European football and has become a key player for Spain, playing a pivotal role in his nation’s triumphant Euro 2024 campaign.
