Man Fatally Stabs Friend During Dispute Over Hard Drugs in Adamawa State

A 20-year-old man, identified as Abdullahi A. Bawa, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stabbing his friend, Baba Ali, to death with a pair of scissors during a dispute over the possession of a banned drug, Diazepam.

The order for remand was issued by Chief Magistrate Court II, presided over by A.M. Adamu, following Bawa’s arraignment by the Adamawa State Police Command.

According to police prosecutor Inspector Nunugi Tayeri, the incident occurred on April 25 in Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area. During an argument over the ownership of the illegal substance, Bawa allegedly stabbed Baba Ali in the chest, resulting in his death. The suspect also reportedly stabbed a woman identified as Hasim, who is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.

Inspector Tayeri stated in the First Information Report (FIR) presented to the court that the defendant is facing charges of culpable homicide and causing grievous hurt. These offences are in violation of Sections 191 and 218 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State.
