West Ham manager Graham Potter has responded to striker Niclas Fullkrug’s post-match outburst, describing the Germany international’s comments as unhelpful to the club.

Fullkrug, 31, publicly criticised his team-mates following West Ham’s 1-1 home draw against bottom-of-the-table Southampton last weekend. The striker accused half the squad of not following Potter’s instructions, blaming their lack of discipline for conceding a late equaliser.

While Potter acknowledged there may have been some truth in Fullkrug’s frustration, he insisted that such concerns should be addressed privately.

“Niclas is a passionate player and he cares deeply about the team,” said Potter. “But airing those kinds of views in public isn’t helpful. If there are issues, they should be discussed in the dressing room, not in front of the media.”
