Tinubu Directs Ministers to Regularly Update Nigerians on Government Activities
President Bola Tinubu has instructed all ministers in his administration to provide Nigerians with detailed updates on their activities, reinforcing his commitment to transparency and accountability.
The directive was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, February 11. He stated that the briefings would not only inform the public about the government’s actions and achievements but also allow Nigerians to ask questions and engage directly with policymakers.
This move follows Tinubu’s earlier directive requiring ministers to sign performance guidelines before their swearing-in, emphasizing accountability in governance. As part of this effort, the Federal Government has launched ministerial press briefings, where ministers will periodically appear before the media to provide progress reports on their ministries.
“These briefings will serve as a platform for ministers to engage directly with Nigerians, highlight key developments, and address public concerns,” Idris stated.
The initiative, which will see ministers addressing the public weekly, comes as Tinubu’s administration approaches its second anniversary, further demonstrating the government’s dedication to keeping citizens informed about its policies and programs.
