Gunmen Abduct Three Students in Ondo, Demand ₦15 Million Ransom
Gunmen have kidnapped three students from a farm in Oke Oge, Oba Ile, located in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victims, who are students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), were abducted on Saturday evening, February 8, 2025, while returning home from their industrial training.
Students Kidnapped from Industrial Training Farm
According to sources, the students were undergoing Industrial Training (IT) at the farm, which is situated near Akure Airport and is owned by a former commissioner in the state.
“Those kidnapped are students undergoing their Industrial Training at the farm. It’s a pepper and tomatoes farm belonging to a former commissioner,” a source disclosed.
Security Agencies Mobilized for Rescue
Confirming the incident, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun), assured that security operatives had been deployed to track down the abductors and rescue the victims.
“I can confirm that we are on top of the situation. They were kidnapped while returning from the farm. Our men have been deployed to rescue them from the kidnappers’ den,” Adeleye stated.
Additionally, Funmi Odunlami, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed that anti-kidnapping operatives had been sent to the scene to aid in the rescue operation.
Kidnappers Demand ₦15 Million Ransom
A family source revealed that the kidnappers have reached out to the victims’ families, demanding a ₦15 million ransom for their release.
“The kidnappers contacted the families and are insisting on ₦15 million. Since then, they have switched off their phone,” the source said.
The incident has sparked concerns over rising insecurity in Ondo State, with families and students calling on authorities to ensure the victims’ safe return.
Efforts to rescue the students remain ongoing.
