The new Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has issued a directive to cease nighttime sting operations across all the Commission’s Commands.

As per a statement from the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, this directive aligns with the recently revised procedures for the arrest and bail of suspects by the anti-graft agency.

Olukoyede made this announcement in Abuja on Wednesday, following the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters by operatives from the Ibadan Zonal branch of the Commission in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The EFCC further disclosed that a significant number of the apprehended suspects, properly profiled by the Ibadan Command, have already been released. The remaining suspects awaiting profiling will also be addressed promptly.

The Commission reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law while carrying out its mandate.
