Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in the United States of America to participate in the World Food Prize event, scheduled to take place in Iowa.
The event, organized by the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, is set to commence on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
This information was conveyed in a statement released on Sunday by Mister Stanley Nkwocha, the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President. The statement revealed that Vice President Shettima will play a significant role in the event as the Special Guest, where he is slated to deliver the keynote address.
During his visit, Vice President Shettima is also slated to engage in crucial meetings with prominent figures from the manufacturing sector, investors, and senior government officials from various states across the United States.
Shettima’s agenda is to utilize this platform to showcase the potential of Nigeria’s agricultural sector, attract investors, and advocate for commitments towards achieving President Bola Tinubu’s initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s agro-food sector.
It is worth noting that distinguished African leaders, such as the late former United Nations Secretary-General and AGRA founder, Kofi Annan, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Presidents Felix Tshishiked and Joaquim Chissano, as well as AfDB President Akinwunmi Adeshina, have previously used this event to garner support for agricultural development and food sufficiency in Africa.
