On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a significant call to Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, marking their first communication since the tragic Hamas attack. During the conversation, President Putin provided a briefing on his recent discussions with regional leaders and the Palestinian Authority.

“The Israeli side received detailed information about the key highlights of today’s phone conversations with leaders from Palestine, Egypt, Iran, and Syria,” the Kremlin stated in an official press release.

According to Moscow, the discussion centered on “the crisis arising from the intense escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

Putin conveyed “his heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the deceased Israelis,” as reported by the Kremlin.

He also apprised the Israeli President of the measures Russia has undertaken to “facilitate the normalization of the situation, prevent further violence escalation, and avert a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.”

In a series of phone conversations, Putin engaged with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas.

Furthermore, the Russian leader informed Netanyahu of Russia’s “firm commitment to pursuing targeted actions to resolve” the conflict and to seek “a peaceful resolution through political and diplomatic channels,” as stated in the government’s release.

Moscow has historically maintained strong relations with both Israeli and Palestinian authorities, along with key regional actors like Syria, Egypt, and Iran.
