A lawyer representing the singer Abdulazeez Afolabi, better known as Naira Marley, has emphasized that there is no substantial evidence linking his client to the untimely demise of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. This assertion was made during a conversation with media personality Daddy Freeze, in which the lawyer challenged the claims of Naira Marley’s alleged bullying of Mohbad.
“As for Naira Marley, I firmly believe that no matter how thoroughly one investigates, there is no single incident that points to Naira Marley bullying Mohbad,” the lawyer stated confidently.
Additionally, the lawyer extended his argument to defend Naira Marley’s close associate, SamLarry, who had faced accusations of mistreating Mohbad while he was alive. In his statement, the lawyer contended that the video circulating online, which purportedly showed SamLarry attacking Mohbad during a music video shoot, did not accurately represent the actual events. According to him, Mohbad had lodged a complaint with the police, claiming that SamLarry and his associates had damaged his equipment during the video shoot. However, investigations revealed that the same equipment had been used to produce the video Mohbad alleged was ruined. The lawyer noted that Mohbad had declined to provide further evidence to substantiate his claims of bullying, whereas SamLarry had cooperated by visiting the police station three times to address the allegations.
“Regarding SamLarry, based on my discussions with his legal team and direct conversations with him, on that particular day in June 2023, he had come to Elegushi beach for an unrelated matter. There, he learned that some people were shooting a video on the beach, and being involved in music promotion, he approached to inquire about the participants. It’s worth noting that he didn’t even recognize Mohbad at first, as his initial remark was, ‘Oh, it’s even you here.’ There was no prior intention to confront Mohbad. When SamLarry made this comment, Zlatan stepped in to prevent any confrontation,” the lawyer explained.
He further revealed that the video in question, which lasted only nine seconds, had a longer version depicting the individuals involved sharing a meal together shortly after the incident. This surprising turn of events contradicted the notion of hostility. SamLarry and Zlatan even wore the same clothes they had on during the video shoot, while Mohbad had changed. The lawyer refrained from implicating Zlatan but urged him to address the situation publicly.
“I do not intend to implicate Zlatan, but I do hope that he comes forward to clarify these issues because we are aware of the statements he made to various individuals, including Davido, regarding SamLarry’s actions on that day,” the lawyer concluded.
