A state of emergency has been declared in New York City due to severe storms causing flash flooding.
Torrential rain has resulted in road closures and disrupted subway services as “dangerous and life-threatening” rainfall inundated New York City.
Numerous subway systems, streets, and highways in the city have experienced flooding, and LaGuardia Airport has closed at least one terminal as of Friday.

Overnight, certain regions experienced up to five inches of rainfall, with an additional potential of up to seven inches, as conveyed by New York State Governor Kathy Hochul.
Governor Hochul emphasized, “This storm poses a significant and potentially life-threatening hazard.”
