The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria have jointly announced an indefinite strike set to commence on October 3.

During a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, September 26, the President of NLC, Joe Ajaero, and TUC President, Festus Osifo, advised Nigerians to consider stockpiling essential food items due to the expected disruption in economic activities resulting from the strike.

In a joint statement issued by both Presidents, the indefinite strike action is attributed to the perceived insensitivity of the government to the challenges faced by Nigerians, particularly in light of the removal of petrol subsidies and the government’s apparent lack of willingness and initiative to provide relief measures.
