The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has recently inaugurated its orientation camp in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. This marks a significant moment as the camp reopens after a 13-year hiatus, following its suspension in 2011 due to the Boko Haram insurgency.

During the swearing-in ceremony of Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 corps members at a temporary orientation camp in the state capital, NYSC State Coordinator, Mohammed Adamu, commended Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, for his efforts in reinstating the orientation course in the state.

The corps members are currently accommodated at the Arabic Teachers College, which is functioning as a provisional orientation camp with robust security provided by the military, police, civil defense, and civilian joint task force.

The group of corps members, comprising 629 males and 496 females, is gearing up for the official swearing-in.

Governor Zulum also expressed his contentment about the revival of the orientation camp in the state, emphasizing that this move symbolizes the return of peace and security to the region following years of insurgency.

He instructed NYSC officials to identify graduates with science, medical, and para-medical backgrounds for potential employment opportunities within the state government.
