The Nigerian Army has detained two of its personnel following allegations that they were involved in an unauthorized deployment during the wedding ceremony of popular content creator Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, and fellow TikTok star Jarvis.
Military sources revealed that the arrests were made after intelligence reports linked the soldiers to an alleged improper assignment at the celebrity wedding, which took place in Lekki, Lagos State, over the weekend.
The two soldiers were reportedly taken into custody on Tuesday morning as the Army began an investigation into their involvement in the incident.
The personnel identified in connection with the case are Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa (23NA/85/10007), attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH), and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi (23NA/85/7885), also serving under the same unit in Obalende, Lagos.
A military source stated that the arrests followed “credible intelligence” suggesting that Army personnel may have participated in an unauthorized security operation at the wedding event.
“Preliminary investigations are currently underway to determine the level of involvement of the arrested personnel and establish whether other individuals were connected to the incident,” the source said.
The development comes after several videos from the star-studded wedding went viral on social media, showing individuals in military uniforms appearing to provide security support at the private celebration.
One particular video sparked public debate after it allegedly showed a soldier escorting TikTok personality Ivanna through the crowded venue, with some viewers claiming the officer appeared to be acting as a personal security aide.
The footage generated reactions from Nigerians online, with many questioning the use of military personnel at a private celebrity event and calling for clarification on whether the deployment was officially authorized.
The Nigerian Army is expected to provide further updates as investigations into the matter continue.
