Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has publicly expressed pride in his cultural roots, saying his identity is deeply connected to his heritage and native language.
In a post shared on X on Wednesday, Rudeboy declared that he is “nobody” without his indigenous culture and mother tongue. He also reaffirmed his identity, describing himself as “100% Nigerian and proudly Igbo.”
His remarks come shortly after a social media controversy involving his twin brother and former P-Square bandmate, Peter Okoye, better known as Mr P. Peter recently faced criticism online after comments he made during a discussion about his children’s ability to speak French. Some social media users interpreted his remarks as downplaying the importance of indigenous Nigerian languages, sparking widespread debate about preserving local languages and cultural identity.
Although Rudeboy did not directly reference his brother in his post, his message has drawn attention amid the ongoing conversation, with many users viewing it as a strong endorsement of embracing one’s roots and preserving indigenous languages.
