Nigerian star Suliat Abideen completes move to Fenerbahçe

Turkish Women’s Super League champions Fenerbahçe have strengthened their squad with the signing of Nigerian midfielder Suliat Abideen from league rivals ABB Fomget.

The Istanbul-based club confirmed the deal on Monday, revealing that the 24-year-old has signed a contract that will run until the end of the current season.

Abideen’s move to Fenerbahçe adds another Nigerian presence to the team, with the midfielder joining compatriots Regina Otu and Flourish Sabastine, who are already members of the squad.

The transfer represents the second European adventure of Abideen’s career following her time with ABB Fomget. Before moving abroad, she made a name for herself in Nigeria’s domestic league, playing a crucial role in Edo Queens’ successful 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title campaign.

Her impressive displays throughout the championship-winning season earned her the prestigious NWFL Most Valuable Player award, highlighting her influence and consistency in midfield.

Fenerbahçe will be hoping Abideen’s experience, creativity, and winning mentality can help the club maintain its dominance in Turkish women’s football as they compete for more success this season.
