“‘There’s Nothing More Absurd Than the ‘Emi Lokan’ Slogan,’ Falz Criticises Current Administration”

Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has criticised the current administration, describing the popular “Emi Lokan” slogan as one of the most absurd political slogans he has ever heard.

Speaking during a recent interview with Arise TV, the singer questioned the government’s priorities, citing spending on official vehicles and aircraft while insecurity and other pressing challenges continue to affect Nigerians.

Falz also rejected the notion that the government should be excused because of the pressures of governing, arguing that holding public office is a responsibility leaders willingly sought.

Referring to the campaign slogan, he said “Emi Lokan,” which translates to “It’s my turn,” reflected the fact that those in power actively sought the position and should therefore be prepared to deliver rather than complain about the challenges of governance.

“There’s nothing more absurd than the ‘Emi Lokan’ slogan,” Falz said.
