Honour killing: Man kills sister over phone conversation with boyfriend

In a suspected honour killing case, a 21-year-old Indian woman was allegedly murdered by her elder brother over her relationship with a village youth.

The accused, Amir Ahmer, 25, allegedly killed his sister at their home in Adampur village, Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2026, while she was speaking to her boyfriend on the phone. The family had reportedly opposed the relationship.

According to The Times of India, Ahmer is alleged to have attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon.

The victim’s body has been sent for postmortem, while a manhunt has been launched to arrest the absconding suspect.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Verma visited the crime scene, where a forensic team and dog squad were deployed to gather evidence and assist investigations.

“We received information through a watchman that a young woman named Ariba, aged around 21–22 years, was murdered by her brother because she used to talk to a young man,” Verma said.
